Prestigious Padmashree MM Joshi Award

KIDROP is honored to be awarded the prestigious Padmashree MM Joshi Award for the best scientific presentation at the 37th Annual Karnataka State Ophthalmic Society conference (KOSCON) combined with the Southern Regional Ophthalmic Conference (SROC) in Mangalore, December 7-9. It was awarded for original research in optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) in Retinopathy of Prematurity. This paper also won the best paper in the medical retina section

Innovator Award 2018

KIDROP is humbled to receive the “Innovator Award 2018” for the “Best Innovation in HealthCare” awarded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India at the 7th Innovators Conclave in New Delhi on September 19th, 2018. The award was in recognition of the contribution to Project “ShishuNethra – Preventing Blindness in Infants” which led to the invention of “3Nethra Neo” – an indigenous, portable, wide-field retinal camera that can be used to screen infants for blinding conditions including Retinopathy of Prematurity. KIDROP was the clinical partner for this device which was developed by Forus Health, India and the Indian Institute of Madras, Chennai, India.

The 76th Annual Meeting of the AIOS

The 76th Annual Meeting of the All India Ophthalmology Society (AIOS) between February 21st-25th at Coimbatore was a very special one for KIDROP. This year, our faculty participated in ROP instruction courses, Technical Skills Transfer Courses and the Leadership Development Program. The highlight was TWO of the papers won “best paper awards” in their respective sessions of Inflammation and Ophthalmic Education, Prevention of Blindness respectively. The paper on “Biomarkers in Tears to Predict ROP” went on to WIN the coveted Col. Rangachari award for the best paper of the Congress. We are grateful to our patients, co-faculty and well-wishers for the outstanding support we received at this Congress.

Dr Aroop Midya and Dr Meenakshi Midya (Roy) Memorial Award 2017

We are honoured to be awarded the Dr Aroop Midya and Dr Meenakshi Midya (Roy) Memorial Award 2017, by the Association of Community Ophthalmologists of India (ACOIN) at the 8th Annual ACOIN Congress between September 8-10th, at Goa, India for community work in ROP. We are grateful to the association for including ROP into the mainstream of the childhood blindness prevention program

The 75th All India Ophthalmological Society Conference at Jaipur

The 75th All India Ophthalmological Society Conference at Jaipur (Feb 16th-19th, 2017) was a great meeting for Retinopathy of Prematurity and especially for KIDROP. With a National Symposium themed on Childhood Blindness (which included ROP), three dedicated courses on ROP and 11 invited talks, we are indeed grateful that the society has given the disease and the work so much prominence. KIDROP also received three awards - The IJO Gold Medal Award for OCT in ROP, The AIOS award for best Community/Social Ophthalmology free paper and the AIOS K. R. Dutta Award (presented once in 4 years) for outstanding ophthalmic services to the rural community. We also launched wiserop.com, an online training portal for infant imaging during this meeting.
