Since 2010, over 17 teams have been trained from within and outside Karnataka state. Most of the training has been performed for Government nominated teams in areas of intervention where KIDROP screens.
Typically, training is for a period of 30 days for support teams (Team B) and upto 90 days or longer for primary teams (Team A). During training, the candidates are required to travel to all the centers where KIDROP screens and perform hands on practical sessions.
Retcam technicians are first trained on infant head mannequins and thereafter on infants under supervision before they perform independently. Project managers are given practical and operational training with special emphasis on setting up and maintaining a Tele-ROP program in the outreach. Candidates are required to have good communication skills, willingness to travel and a strong commitment to their work with a passion to make a difference to the community they serve. Previous background or degrees are not as important as honesty and integrity to be selected for training.
Preference is given to Government supported candidates or those from areas where no such facilities exist. Interested Government agencies, NGO’s, hospitals or individuals must contact us in advance as time-tables for training are prepared several months ahead of time.
